Shoalhaven City Council is seeking two Park Maintainer to join our Northern Maintenance Team.

About the role

These two positions are both permanent full time 38 hours week roles, with 9-day fortnight based at Bomaderry Works Depot.


Reporting directly to the Team Supervisor – Northern Maintenance, the focus of this position is to:

  • Undertake a variety of tasks such as landscaping installation, maintenance works, cleaning, hand digging, mulching, mowing operations, tree pruning, park maintenance, litter collection, irrigation systems maintenance and installation with the ability to work on above ground platforms and ladders, fencing and traffic control.
  • To operate plant and/or light trucks pertaining to maintenance and/or construction works as directed by the Supervisor and/or Ganger.
  • To carry out routine manual labouring tasks without direct supervision, whilst accepting responsibility for correctness and quality of tasks assigned by the Supervisor or Ganger.
  • Support and supervise staff in the day-to-day operations of the District.
  • Ensure the work area’s compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies and ensure that risks are managed.
  • Undertake Risk Management inspections of Council’s assets using electronic mobile devices as required.
  • Assist in Council responses to emergencies and other operational needs, including being available for ‘call back’.
  • Projects and asset types may include, but is not limited to, parks & reserves, boat ramps, recreational facilities, seawalls, viewing platforms, roads and road related infrastructure, drainage, kerb & gutter, bus shelters, footpaths / cycleways / walking tracks, parking areas, traffic facilities, bridges, fences, and flood mitigation assets, etc.

    Skills & Experience

    In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

  • Certificate III in Horticulture, Arboriculture, Turf Management, Nursery Practice or equivalent.
  • Minimum NSW Class MR Driver’s Licence or equivalent licence valid in NSW.
  • Current NSW General Construction Induction card (white card) or acceptable interstate alternative.
