About The Role

As our Supervisor within the Auxiliary Maintenance Team at Newman Operations, you will have the opportunity to support and guide a talented team managing the safe and cost effective maintenance on our large fleet of light vehicles and auxiliary equipment, in order to ensure availability, performance and integrity. Reporting to the Superintendent Auxiliary Maintenance and being offered as a residential role based in Newman WA working a lifestyle roster of 5/4:4/5:5/5 days/nights roster, your duties will include:

In this role there is a requirement for you to be an effective and collaborative communicator with the ability to manage multiple business priorities simultaneously. Developing, communicating and executing the maintenance schedule whilst managing urgent break-in work is a fundamental part of this role. Solid interpersonal skills are essential, allowing you to influence while also enabling you to build relationships across departments. Ability to manage and coach work groups on quality, task-based risk assessments and demonstrated commitment to the field leadership program and coach field leadership activities will ensure your success.

Location
In this residential role you will be based in Newman, Western Australia.

You will be working at the closely located ‘Mount Whaleback’ mine site, which at more than five kilometres long and nearly 1.5 kilometres wide is the biggest single-pit open-cut iron ore mine in the world. The 7,000 strong population of Newman enjoys well-established town facilities including a newly revitalised town centre and sporting facilities. As a gateway to the Karijini national park, you will be in close proximity to spectacular gorges, water courses and stunningly unique landscapes. As this is a residential position you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.

About You

To be successful in this role you will an overriding commitment to health, safety and environmental responsibilities. Support the health and wellbeing, sustainable development of team members and drive an inclusive and diverse culture. In addition our ideally you will have:

  • Demonstrated safety leadership skills and a history of field leadership participation
  • Experience leading and mentoring frontline execution teams
  • Previous experience in maintaining a mobile equipment or similar would be preferred
  • Trade qualification within an maintenance field would be advantageous
  • Current full "C" class motor vehicle license is essential
  • Working knowledge of Mine Safety & Inspection Act & Regulations
  • Systems knowledge of maintenance processes (e.g. Work management)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • An energetic and enthusiastic approach to work, with a drive to develop and learn
  • Ability to problem solve and respond to unplanned situations
