Description

As a Customer Support Engineer & WDM T2 Deploy you will work with Ribbon's customers and with several internal customers like T3, R&D, Engineering, Sales, Project Management, and more.

Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible to deliver a project from a technical/engineering point of view on time and as per customer expectations
  • Work with internal Ribbon Engineering teams in preparation and support of Customer field Deployment activities
  • Secure that Commissioning of DWDM equipment including node power-up, DCN setup, Shelf and card commissioning, Optical Transport, and Optical Switch commissioning are performed with the right technical skill and on time
  • Understand and able to operate with NMS and/or Optical Management systems
  • Understand Service setup per node and network from 10G to 400G traffic transmission
  • End to End network service and protection switch setup and testing
  • Understand Network Integration testing with 3rd party vendor Optical equipment
  • Secure Documentation of all commissioning procedures and test results as required by Customer
  • Ribbon DWDM/OTN covered are Long haul, Metro and Access Optical Transport and Switch products
  • Work in conjunction with was local Optical Design Specialist Engineer on specific customer requirements
  • Ability to also expand skills and knowledge across Ribbon’s Neptune Packet platforms
Requirements
  • B.E. / B. tech / Degree in Electronics or Electronics & telecommunication.
  • 6-8 years of hands-on experience in working with Network Management System including Orchestrators and SDN controllers and DWDM technology. This includes Testing, Field as well as NOC
  • Wide Knowledge of NMS Components, DWDM technology, provisions, commissioning, Protection Mechanism, related products & technologies is a must
  • Packet (IP and Layer 2) skill is highly recommended
  • Candidates having customer service orientation / having past experience as customer interface in
  • the technical support role will be preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Domain Knowledge
  • Hand-on experience on implementation and maintenance of Optical DWDM Network (and packet-based technologies as optional)
  • Good Understanding of NMS protocols, NBI, SBI, and applications
  • Good understanding of WDM product testing with the customer as a part of Network Production Introduction
  • Familiar with test procedures, test scope for DWDM/OTN managed network. Packet/IP experience is also a bonus
  • Knowledge of building Project Book - Network BOM, topologies, Channel Maps, As-Built Diagrams, etc.
  • Working with Visio, Excel, Word, and organizing Documents for End Users
