Are you looking for a Senior Systems Engineer role in Sydney? Do you have experience of technology development and improvement of existing products in the medical device industry? Perhaps you have experience as a Verification & Validation Engineer and have worked closely with Systems Engineers? My client is a global innovator of highly complex medical/health care devices, who are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to work with a team of Systems Engineers on new and existing products.

A publicly listed ASX200 company that develops, manufactures and commercialises a range of unique health care related solutions for an international client base.

The Role

In this Senior Systems Engineer role, you'll work with a team of Systems Engineers on the development of novel products and the improvement of existing products within the Research and Product Development team. You'll also mentor and train junior Systems Engineers. Your day will be spent developing new and improving existing operating procedures to streamline the product development and change process.


  • Product technical ownership at the systems level

  • Lead and coordinate product-related systems activities

  • Provide expertise and guidance to other systems team members

  • Provide Systems Engineering support during product development, from concept to product launch

  • Develop Design Description and Specification documents

  • Assess proposed design changes and provide feedback regarding risks and implementation

  • Perform regression analyses to determine design change impact

  • Review systems and documentation and provide constructive feedback

  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary research and development team

  • Identify, assess, mitigate and manage product risks

  • Develop and maintain an overarching Risk Management Plan, own risk documentation

  • Support the business in the closing of NCRs and CAPAs

  • Triaging of product issues

  • Perform risk assessments on field issues and product improvements

  • Assess and correct non-conformities of existing products

  • Analyse internal and external customer needs

  • Identify applicable product standards and ensure compliance

  • Elicit system requirements from needs, design input requirements and standards

  • Elaborate on requirements and features for downstream stakeholders

  • Ensure tracibility from design input to verification and validation, own requirement documentation

  • Develop and implement system architecture and process and feature work flows, own documentation

  • Perform Trade-off analyses to determine the most suitable concepts, assemblies or components

  • Develop and optimise process parameters to ensure reliable device performance

  • Perform functional analyses on predecessor devices

  • Resolve complex issues

  • Min. 7 years of Engineering experience in Systems Engineering or similar

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering

  • Strong relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills

  • People management and leadership skills

  • Ability to create clear and concise documentation

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience of multidisciplinary projects and project teams
