Primary objective:
Under the direction of the Executive Director Northern Region, implement Crown Land management and release activities

in the Katherine Region.

Key duties and responsibilities:
1. Provide operational advice and information to senior management, other Government agencies and the public

regarding the management and maintenance of vacant Crown land in the Northern (Katherine) region.

2. Prepare correspondence, reports and recommendations on Crown land management and maintenance issues.

3. Prepare documentation for the letting of contracts and tenders for Crown land maintenance, and manage the

operations of contractors.

4. Manage leases and licences over Crown land and buildings on Crown land in accordance with relevant legislation.

5. Undertake field inspections of land and buildings to investigate and monitor issues, and instigate any necessary repair

and maintenance works.

6. Respond to enquiries and complaints from the public on vacant Crown land management issues.

7. Represent the Division on relevant committees and working groups as required.

Selection Criteria

Essential:
1. Well-developed oral and written communication skills, with the ability to produce documentation to effectively

communicate technical issues to diverse target audiences.

2. Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision and to meet deadlines, and proven qualities of self-motivation

and initiative.

3. Experience in liaising in the private and public sectors on sensitive and confidential issues; with high standards of

probity, accountability and confidentiality in a politically and commercially sensitive environment.

4. Ability to interpret policy and legislation, and experience in legislation administration.

5. Experience in land administration, land use planning or other land management related areas.

6. Demonstrated experience in building and sustaining relationships with a diverse network of internal and external

stakeholders.

7. NT Drivers licence or an ability to obtain.

Desirable:
1. Knowledge of relevant legislation, including Crown Lands Act, Special Purposes Leases Act, Land Titles Act, Planning

Act and the Native Title Act.

2. Experience with Government systems such as ILIS, TRM, and project management databases.
