Position Purpose Statement

Due to expansion Metro are looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager who will be managing development projects for one of our key clients the Department of Transport. This role will see you contribute to the successful management of projects during the development phase,ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope and within budget. This role is a 12 month fixed term contract.


Your key responsibilites will include;

  • Project Management of development projects, ensuring they are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Proactively identifying and providing considered advice and recommendations to senior management on issues arising from and impacting the project and network, including the identification and mitigation of project risks
  • Ensure projects are developed to best practice, contract and asset management standards, in compliance with relevant approvals and to the satisfaction of the key stakeholders
  • Determining requirements for and understanding impacts of projects in/interfacing with the rail corridor
  • Managing the interface with internal and external stakeholders (including facilitating workshops) on critical issues affecting the project
  • Engaging and successfully managing consultants to assist during the design development
  • Ensuring deliverables are completed in accordance with the Franchise Agreement
  • Prepare documents, reports and project plans as necessary for the management of the assigned projects
  • Monthly project reporting, including forecasting and invoicing
  • Undertake project handovers to the delivery team once funding becomes available for the project

In order to be successful you will possess the following;

  • A tertiary qualifications in engineering or other relevant disciples suited to a Project Management role. (Desirable)
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience with the management of projects is desirable.
  • An understanding of the complexities of the railway industry and systems engineering is preferred but not essential
  • Experience in managing development projects from heavy industries
  • Your technical knowledge will be complemented with an ability to communicate clearly in both reports and in meetings.
