Permanent, Full time (average of 38 hours per week)

This pivotal role within the Community Development directorate contributes to building a stronger and more connected Rockingham community. The role provides strategic leadership, guidance and support to the Community Capacity Building team and portfolios including: Seniors, Disability Access and Inclusion, Reconciliation/Aboriginal Engagement, an extensive Community Grants Program, and supporting sustainable community groups.

You are an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who takes a strategic approach to building the capacity of the community. You have strong communication skills (both written and verbal), and possess experience in report writing, developing and monitoring budgets, project management and strategy development, particularly in a local government setting. Possessing excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, you lead by example and understand the importance of positive team dynamics and effective management.

To be considered for this role, you must address the following selection criteria as part of your online application (please limit your response to three pages in total):

  1. Demonstrated leadership skills in coordinating and managing small multi-disciplinary teams.
  2. Sound knowledge of Local Government legislation, policies, procedures and relevant statutory requirements.
  3. Well-developed knowledge of contemporary community development and/or community capacity building theory, principles and practices, particularly relevant to the portfolios.
  4. Strong verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills, including report writing, strategy development and public speaking.
  5. Experience in developing professional relationships with members of the community, inter-departmental staff, other government departments, funding bodies, community organisations, community groups and stakeholders.
  6. Experience in strategy, policy and procedure development and implementation.
  7. Relevant qualification in Community Development, Health Promotion or related field.

We are offering a cash salary of $93,738 per annum with access to a pool vehicle.
