About us

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.

The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

The Integrated Counselling and Case Management (ICCM) Program is a new initiative in response to the Royal Commission into Family Violence that aims to ensure more perpetrators are accountable, engaged and connected, consistent with the whole of Victorian Government Family Violence Outcomes Framework.

About the role

The Family Violence Case Manager provides advanced assessment and case management services for people who use family violence, primarily those referred to mandated Men's Behaviour Change Programs (MBCP) who present with complex issues, including alcohol and other drugs and/or mental illness. The role promotes increased client engagement in programs and interventions, leading to increased responsibility for changing their actions and behaviours.

The Family Violence Case Manager will take a trauma and evidenced-informed approach to working with clients. The role will contribute to the ongoing safety of women and children by providing individualised responses addressing the risks associated with the use of family violence, and barriers to engagement in behaviour change programs. 

  • The role is based at Ballarat for a fixed period of 12 months, with the possibility of extension subject to continued funding. Flexible work arrangements may be considered.

About you

You are an experienced family violence practitioner with excellent client engagement skills, committed to achieving positive outcomes for clients and enhanced community safety.

You are passionate about continuous service improvement and providing a responsive and supportive family violence service.

You have experience working with perpetrators of family violence with demonstrated experience in assessment and evidence-based case management practices.
