About us

Each year the Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) and Children's Court of Victoria (ChCV) determine in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year.

The Court IT systems are outdated, some of which are 30 years old, and no longer meet service expectations or handle the growing community demand. The 2017/18 State Budget provided significant investment to Court Services Victoria including $89.2m for a modern case management system for the two courts, as part of the whole of government response to the Royal Commission into Family Violence.

The Case Management System (CMS) Project aims to implement a contemporary CMS for MCV and ChCV that supports the ongoing growth of cases, is a one point of entry for all cases in these two courts, and streamlines data capture, business processes and the exchange of information both within the Courts and with external parties.
