The Department of Health plays a critical role in the Victorian health system and is responsible for shaping it to meet the health needs of Victorians into the future. We also lead the Victorian Government's response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The landmark Victorian Government Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System represents a significant opportunity for system-wide reform. The Royal Commission released its interim report in November 2019, which included a recommendation for government to establish an administrative office to implement the Royal Commission's recommendations

Reporting through to the Manager, Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing, the Senior Policy Officer will play a key role in the delivery of culturally safe mental health and social and emotional wellbeing services to Aboriginal communities. Candidates with a deep understanding of issues facing Aboriginal communities, strong skills and experience spanning public policy and participatory decision making, project management and delivery, stakeholder engagement, implementation design, together with experience in community and acute mental health settings, community and sector leadership, change management and human-centred design are encouraged to apply.

Are you

  • Experienced at building and maintaining partnerships with Aboriginal stakeholders and communities?
  • Highly skilled in policy design and development with a proven track record of delivery quality outcomes?
  • Comfortable with dealing with complexity and a flexible team player?
  • Familiar with the mental health system?
