Period of employment / Hours:

Permanent full-time (73.50 hours per fortnight) day work (part-time hours may be considered by negotiation)

Communities, Sport & Recreation - Policy and Programs - Hobart

Duties:

Primary Purpose / Focus :

As a member of the Communities, Sport and Recreation Team, the Manager, Policy and Programs is responsible for:
  • providing strategic leadership and broad based authoritative advice across a diverse range of community development issues often of critical importance to the Government.
  • the management of the financial and human resources of the Branch to deliver initiatives, programs and projects.

Selection criteria includes:

  • Comprehensive understanding and extensive practical experience of policy development, implementation and evaluation processes in relation to complex issues;
  • Well-developed understanding of, and ability to work within, the political, social and organisation environment in which the Division and Department operates.
  • Highly developed analytical and research skills including the ability to identify and focus attention on issues that are complex and often ambiguous, in a manner that leads to timely and actionable advice.

Essential Requirements:

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

    • c) serious drug offences
    • d) crimes involving dishonesty
    • e) serious traffic offences (If Driver's License is an Essential Requirement )
