We are looking for a full time (30-38 hours), experienced ECT to join this independently owned and family run Service in the Cessnock Area. We are looking for a full time (30-38 hours per week) experienced ECT to join this wonderful, independently owned and family run Service in the Cessnock Area. The Service is well resourced with a great resource budget to ensure children’s needs and interests are being met.

You will have the opportunity to work in a supportive environment with a great organisational structure including an experienced Service Director & Assistant Director/ Educational Leader & room leaders.

We are looking for an ECT who is passionate about Education & Care for children and implementing a play-based, child-interest led curriculum. In this role you will be responsible for running the Junior Pre-school room (ages 3-4).

We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with children, who is friendly & positive attitude.

This Service is known for its high community engagement seen with ongoing incursion and excursions, networks with local schools & other early learning services, and fantastic transition programs. In their Service Philosophy, they aim to create a warm, welcoming, family orientated and inclusive environment for all children, families, team members and the community as a whole.

Strong pedagogical leadership is essential to this role as well as being able to mentor and coach the team of Educators.

The roles & responsibilities of an ECT may include (but are not limited to):

  • designing, planning, implementing and evaluation educational programs and practices, including following and implementing EYLF.
  • leading and supporting the health, wellbeing, learning and development of children.
  • providing pedagogical leadership.
  • coaching, mentoring and supervising staff.
  • building and maintaining strong relationships with children and their families.
  • ensuring compliance with service policies and national and/or state-based legislation.
  • supporting families to be involved in the service.
  • leading the delivery of National Quality Standard requirements.
  • working with community members and external agencies.

Who are we looking for?

  • A Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood) or equivalent ACECQA approved teaching qualification.
  • Educational Leader experience desired (not essential).

  • Someone with fantastic communication skills.

  • Someone who is open to continuous improvement in their professional practice and service goals.
  • Someone with great planning and organisational skills.
  • Someone that has a natural affinity for children and a genuine desire to nurture their development.
  • Desired experience in planning and implementing an educational program which values a holistic view of each child’s development.
  • Strong understanding of the National Quality Framework.
  • Excellent understanding of the EYLF: Belonging, Being and Becoming: The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia.
  • Effective implementation of pedagogy in your teaching practice.
  • CHCPRT001 Identify and respond to children and young people at risk - Accredited Child Protection or willingness to obtain (1 day training).
  • HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting or willingness to obtain (1 day training).
