North Metropolitan Regional Education Office is seeking to establish a pool of Regional Attendance Coordinators for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2021 and up to the end of June, 2022. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within 2021, up to the end of June, 2022.

Suitable applicants will be joining the North Metropolitan Education Region's School Engagement Team, which is a key component of the Region's efforts to support student participation, engagement and behaviour, in line with the Department's strategic directions articulated in Every student, every classroom, every day. The work of the School Engagement Team is across three main domains, which frequently intersect and overlap:

  • Student enrolment and attendance
  • Student behaviour
  • Partnerships

In the enrolment and attendance domain, the successful applicant will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide consultation and advice in relation to enrolment and attendance matters, quality assure attendance advisory panel processes, and case management of children and young people (P to Year 10) who are not currently enrolled or whose Home Education arrangements have been terminated.

In the behaviour domain, the successful applicant will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide consultation and advice in relation to behaviour and risk management matters, quality assure exclusion-related processes and case management of student who have been excluded.

The School Engagement Team works in close collaboration with a number of internal and external agencies and support services including but not limited to, School of Special Educational Needs, Alternative Learning Settings, School Psychology Services, Department of Communities, Department of Justice, Western Australian Police Force, Target 120 and the Integrated Offender Management Working Group.

The North Metropolitan Education Region comprises more than 240 public schools across the north and north-eastern metropolitan area from Cottesloe to Lancelin and east to Wooroloo.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

  1. Considerable knowledge and understanding of current trends and issues in education relating to the service provision for alienated and non-attending students.
  2. Well developed research, analytical and conceptual skills and an ability to plan and coordinate a variety of strategies, processes and programs.
  3. Well developed verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to mediate, resolve conflict and work as a collaborative team member.
  4. Ability to provide strategic leadership in the provision of support for alienated and non-attending students.
  5. Well developed written communication skills, including the ability to prepare correspondence, briefings and case notes.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS :

Employees will be required to:

  • Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • Complete the Department's induction program within three months of commencement
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
  • Complete the Department's training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
