Our state government client focuses on delivering everyday services to Canberrans. You'll join a team that manages the procurement of a range of waste and recycling activities provided to residents and business.

You be operating in an activity based working environment where you'll be working from home 3 days per week and in the office 2 days per week.

The Opportunity

This is a permanent position in state government that provides you with an opportunity to:

  • Drive the procurement of several large, critical waste and recycling services including a greenfield project, which will be their largest contract to date
  • Act as a procurement subject matter expert in a high performing team
  • Energise and positively influence the procurement culture within the organisation

The Role

Your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Undertake all aspects of procurement activities for goods and services as required by the projects
  • Research and analyse new or existing operations or contracts to determine strategic procurement objectives and incorporate continuous improvements to project outcomes, efficiency and/or value for money
  • Plan, budget, oversee and document all aspects of the projects or programs of work, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Work closely with management to ensure the scope, direction and project schedule is on track and use change control measures where appropriate
  • Manage transition of projects or contracts to the Service Delivery team ensuring integration to ongoing operations
  • Work towards managing one staff member in the future

Your Background and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have the following experience and capabilities:

  • Knowledge and experience in goods and services procurement for both strategic and operational projects from investigation through to contract handover
  • Knowledge and experience in delivering projects, with strong project management skills, excellent time and task management and the ability to independently problem-solve project challenges
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work with other groups and engage with stakeholders to negotiate positive project outcomes in a range of situations
  • Demonstrated experience in working in a team and delivering complex projects over long timeframes

To be eligible for this role, you must be:

  • A permanent resident of Australia
  • Willing to undergo a police check

Salary / Rate

  • $110k - $119k + 9.5% super
  • Permanent position in state government
  • Activity based working - 3 days from home and 2 days in the office
