The International Division works on international education policy challenges and high-profile initiatives that support the sustainable development and growth of our vibrant international education sector.

At the International Division, we operate as policy advisors, representatives, regulators, analysts, administrators, and diplomats. We work closely across the department, other Australian Government agencies, state and territory governments, and education providers to sustainably grow our international education sector and to ensure Australia is recognised as a regional and a world leader in education and training.

The International Division provides leadership and coordination across government, delivering programs and policies to support mobility, the global exchange of knowledge and position us as partner of choice for international collaboration. With staff based in 12 countries, we also work closely with foreign partner governments to advance Australia's economic growth, public diplomacy and national security.

The key duties of the position include
The International Division is seeking talented, driven individuals with demonstrated policy, research, critical thinking, and communication skills. In particular, we are seeking individuals with knowledge, skills and experience in:

  • Delivering high quality policy advice
  • Research, analysis and presenting findings to effectively engage a wide range of stakeholders
  • Australia's education and training system including the international education sector
  • Contributing to making our workplace an engaging and supportive place to work.
    Selection Criteria
    • Research, critical analysis, and problem-solving abilities to provide high quality policy advice.
    • Demonstrated administration and organisational skills and the ability to use initiative and multi-task to achieve outcomes on time.
    • Well-developed verbal and written skills and ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
    • Proficient use of IT systems including Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to quickly learn new systems.
