This important role will work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander’s to become difference makers in business, the accounting profession and our communities. You will help advocate and grow our current Indigenous membership, and communicate the importance of the first nations peoples.

This role is key to supporting the broader CA ANZ active commitment to reconciliation, to closing the gap and to driving positive change for all Australians.

Chartered Accountants ANZ (CA ANZ) has a diverse membership of 120,000+ business professionals. People with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage are underrepresented in our membership.

We’ll give you responsibility for:

  • Identifying, facilitating, driving, and implementing deep and authentic engagement with a range of agreed stakeholders.
  • Developing and implementing a validated engagement and execution plan for the Indigenous Accountants Sector, including account plans for agreed groups.
  • Providing regular feedback and communications to agreed stakeholders with regards to topical opportunities or issues arising, with recommended actions and responses which may include education, conferences, networking events and partnership opportunities.
  • Developing a communications plan for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander membership and prospective future Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members.
  • Promoting, driving, and championing appropriate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural competence throughout CA ANZ (including external Governance groups) networks.

Great To have

Essential

  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of Indigenous society and culture and an understanding of the issues affecting Indigenous people in contemporary Australian society and the diversity of circumstances in Indigenous communities.
  • Track record in an Indigenous sector role
  • Indigenous Government, business, and/or community networks
  • Productive stakeholder management experience
  • Demonstration of ability to be flexible and manage change
  • Effective and inspiring communication skills with the ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop, validate, and deliver a strategic plan
  • Experience in implementing plans and delivering meaningful outcomes as measured by KPIs and other measures of success

Desired

  • Experience with the accounting profession would be an advantage

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and post graduate education preferred
