About the section
The Table Office is responsible for providing procedural advice and administrative services to support the operations of the House of Representatives, Federation Chamber and some domestic committees.

The Table Office provides advice and support to the Speaker, ministers, members and their staff, the department's executive and staff on procedural and chamber-related administrative matters. It also publishes certain chamber documents and processes and makes available legislation and documents presented in the House and Federation Chamber as well as contributing to training for departmental staff and parliamentary outreach services.

About the role
The Assistant Director, Legislation and Records, is responsible for overseeing the work of the Votes and Proceedings, Bills and Documents teams. The successful applicant will play a principal role in processing legislation and providing operational advice on ICT projects impacting outputs of the Office. The successful applicant will be an experienced leader who has a demonstrated eye for detail and knowledge of parliamentary procedure or the capacity to develop this quickly.

The key duties of the position include
The Assistant Director, Legislation and Records will:
1. Provide management support to the office and oversee work of the Votes, Bills and Documents teams. (Deputise for Director as required.)
2. Coordinate support for Federation Chamber.
3. Play a principal role in processing legislation, including preparation of third reading and assent prints and messages to the Senate.
4. Secretary to House of Representatives Committee on Publications and, when required, to Joint Committee on Publications.
5. Monitor division recording, process divisions when necessary and maintain several databases.
6. Undertake Deputy Clerk-at-the-Table duties within the Chamber and Federation Chamber as required.
7. Advise Members and others on parliamentary matters as necessary.
8. Overall management of distribution and stocks of documents in all areas for which the Office is responsible.
9. Participate in talks or presentations on Parliament and oversee office program for visiting officers.
