The Principal Analytics Consultant is a senior role in the Recovery Analytics team of within the broader Business Analytics. The purpose of this role is to provide an independent, transparent and understood view of performance in relation to treatment, RTW, long tail clams management as well as claims disputation, to warn of emerging risks, help to identify opportunities and develop and evaluate solutions that improve performance.

Key Accountabilities

You will develop and maintain stakeholder relationships and proactively partner to determine needs, agree on priorities and effectively allocate resources. More specifically the Principal Analytics Consultant will:

  • Have experience in leading analytical projects including setting goals and deliverables, establishing success criteria, and defining key metrics of solution success
  • Provide authoritative statistical and other advice and reports to business partners, stakeholders and senior management
  • Supervision of analysts and ensure that the reporting output meets agreed standards by ensuring appropriate documentation & undertaking peer review
  • Form an independent view of performance that is transparent & understood, including implications to the organisation as a whole, and includes early warning of emerging risks/opportunities

About you

You have strong interpersonal skills to support appropriate internal and external networks and relationships. More specifically you have:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor analysts, plan and schedule their activities, and check quality of deliverables
  • Extensive knowledge of key data sources and core systems
  • Expert knowledge in one specific domain of Workers Compensation or a similar field
  • A strong knowledge of and experience using data visualisation and reporting tools in day-to-day work (e.g. SAS VA, QlikSense) including experience designing, developing and implementing new initiatives


  • Tertiary qualification (e.g. Statistics, Business, Computer Science, Actuarial)
  • 8+ Years experience in data & analytics
