An exciting opportunity now exists to join Deakin Research on a fixed-term basis. As the successful candidate you will manage the on-ongoing development of the Deakin University public website and intranet presence for Deakin Research, our Institutes and Strategic Research Centres. You will also collaborate with the public web team, digital marketing and Deakin’s Research community to create an engaging and strategically aligned digital presence to promote Deakin’s Research and Research impact.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Support the Deakin research and innovation to develop appropriate digital solutions to support the promotion and communication of Deakin research and research impact
  • Write and edit impactful content for our digital channels that will increase engagement with our audiences and improve the customer experience.
  • In consultation with the Coordinator, Marketing and Communications develop and implement the governance strategy for our digital platforms.
  • Contributing to the overall success of our user experience, by developing strategies to improve the findability, usability and relevance of our content across all of our digital channels including the website and staff intranet.
  • Coordinate and drive the production of new content across the staff intranet DeakinHub, while setting up processes to monitor and review channel performance.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships, working with business stakeholders to ensure all published content has been through editorial and business approvals
  • Complete quality assurance activities on web content and ongoing content governance
  • Recommendations for best practice presentation of digital content i.e. multi-media, functionality, design, tone of voice etc.
  • Indentifying ways to continually harness the skills, knowledge and content from within the business, linking it with delivery of content for the new website.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A degree in a relevant discipline plus significant relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • A strong digital skill set, with experience in SEO, content management, social media, and digital marketing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to produce clear and accurate communications that are appropriate for their intended audience.
  • Proven capability to work positively and effectively as part of a collaborative work team,
  • Excellent writing ability, including the ability to write in different styles and to other people's direction for digital channels.
  • Ability to project manage multiple website projects, with experience in UX and information architecture development.
  • A creative approach, to developing ideas for new digital projects
  • Relationship management experience in liaising with stakeholders at a variety of levels within an organisation.
  • Sound understanding of web content including accessibility, usability, information architecture and a demonstrated ability to develop high-quality online material.
  • Demonstrated experience of CMS platforms (eg. Squiz, WordPress and SharePoint)
  • Up to date on the latest trends and technologies in digital marketing.
  • Experience using website analytic tools such as Adobe Analytics and Google Analytics.
