About the role

The Level 2 Bereavement Counsellor is responsible for the provision of an effective and timely counselling service within Calvary Bereavement Counselling Service to clients residing in the George’s River, Bayside and Sutherland Local Government Areas. They are required to conduct assessments, plan and provide bereavement support, counselling, support groups, consultation and education to ensure clients are able to function within their relevant environment.

The Level 2 Bereavement Counsellor is responsible and accountable for providing a professional level of service to clients referred to CBCS. They are a competent clinical practitioner who is able to work under minimum professional supervision and will function as part of the inter-disciplinary team. They are able to exercise independent judgement on routine matters and may require direct professional supervision from more senior staff members when performing novel, complex or critical tasks.

Positions at this level may be required to teach or supervise undergraduate students including those on clinical placements and assist in the development of policies, procedures, standards and practices, participate in quality improvement activities and may participate in clinical research activities as required.

The Level 2 clinician will be expected to participate in workplace education programs as required.
