  • Salary: $86,084 - $97,760 (Pro-Rata) + 9.5% Superannuation
  • Fixed Term, Part Time (6 months)

About the role

Council is offering two fixed term (6 months), part time positions (21 hours per week).

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.

Duties

Reporting directly to the Team Leader – Environmental Planning & Assessment the focus of this position is to:

  • Ensure entities listed under the Biodiversity Conservation Act and Environment Protection & Biodiversity ConservationAct are given appropriate consideration in the assessment of development applications and that Council fulfils its statutory obligations with respect to threatened species and ecological communities.
  • Provide guidance and technical advice as required for other matters requiring environmental assessment and advice.

Skills & Experience

In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

  • Degree in one of the natural sciences (or a related discipline) with demonstrated advanced knowledge of ecological processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess the impact to biodiversity of development applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret relevant environmental legislation.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of ecological processes.
  • Considerable experience in fauna and flora field inventory and survey.
  • Considerable experience in environmental impact assessment.
  • Demonstrated effective time management and prioritisation skills with the ability to balance competing workloads and deliver within deadlines
  • Class C Driver’s Licence
