The Opportunity

We have a fantastic full time role reporting to the Head of Sports Performance based at our Club’s Training headquarters in Caroline Springs. The role - Club Lead Physiotherapist, spans the A-League / W-League / NPL / Women’s teams. Core responsibilities include developing strategies to proactively manage potential player injuries, manage injury diagnosis, management and rehabilitation.

Key elements of the role will include -

  • Conduct the assessment and diagnosis of musculoskeletal conditions related to player's within the A-League squad and the implementation of appropriate treatment and rehabilitation strategies.
  • Pre training management of players including taping, manual therapy and administration of treatment as required.
  • Close liaison with the Club Doctor, Strength & Conditioning staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team to optimise player medical care and performance.
  • Development and delivery of individual and A-League squad-based injury prevention programmes based on screening, past medical history and injury trends.
  • Ensuring all injuries are reported and managed by the Club Physio’s under direction as required, including player rehabilitation.
  • Manage the compliance requirements for the completion, storage and confidentiality of medical records for all professional players
  • Lead and support Club Physiotherapists with regard to managing complex injuries and issues relating to injuries and should the need arise, refer cases on to the most appropriate clinic, specialist or rehabilitation environment

About You

You will be an energetic, driven individual who ideally has 5 -10 years’ experience working within an elite team sport environment. You will have strong experience in optimising player medical care and performance, using Musculo-skeletal assessment technology (eg force plates). Able to build a strong rapport with professional athletes and presenting to senior staff and have outstanding organisational and administration skills and an understanding of internal and external stakeholder management. You will also be capable of working autonomously and competent in managing conflict situations and conflicting priorities.

Needless to say, you will have a hands on, can do attitude, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and of course embrace and live the WUFC Values!

You will also possess the following key position requirements:

Essential:

  • A passion for what you do!!
  • Bachelor of Physiotherapy or equivalent
  • Technical Clinical and management experience
  • Current AHPRA registration as a physiotherapist
  • Current and valid CPR/pitch side trauma qualifications
  • APA Sports level 2
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to work under pressure and balance conflicting demands and deadlines
  • Strong mentoring and coaching skills
  • A strong team player who is prepared to support all parts of the business
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Enjoy working in a fast paced, complex and busy work environment
  • Competent in the use of MS office suite - Word, Excel, Publisher & G suite of programs, and a database system such as Smartabase to record treatment records

Highly Desirable:

  • Either Master of Sports Physiotherapy OR Master of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy (or working towards)
  • Experiencein designing and delivering gym and field-based rehabilitation/re-conditioning sessions specific to footballers.
  • International elite sporting team experience
