The primary purpose of the role is to be responsible for the day to day, best practice delivery of ECG-related testing procedures for GenesisCare - Cardiology VIC patients. These procedures include ECG recording, Blood Pressure and other basic parameter measurement and recording, Ambulatory Monitoring, analysis and recording of results, and assisting specialist doctors with Exercise Stress Tests. This position is also responsible for setting up and maintaining the ECG and stress testing rooms ahead of and after testing, and assisting patients during all testing procedures. The position is required to work closely with other Cardiac Physiologists, Registered Nurses and Specialist Cardiac Physiologists to ensure the rostered lists are completed in a timely and professional manner in line with GenesisCare standards of patient care.

What you'll do:

  • Perform a range of ECG, Holter, Blood Pressure and Event Monitoring tests on GenesisCare inpatients and outpatients at GenesisCare clinics and times as per the daily list and technician roster, transporting and returning relevant testing equipment as per GenesisCare procedures to ensure all tests are completed on time.
  • Provide careful and accurate analysis of test results and ensure that results are recorded accurately and promptly into HealthTrack and that relevant results are reported by the cardiologist as required.
  • Work closely with and assist specialist doctors to perform Stress Tests on GenesisCare patients by ensuring that the rooms are maintained ready for testing at all times, preparing and assisting patients during and after their test, and assisting where necessary with the manipulation of test equipment and monitoring of test results.
  • Provide assistance to all patients during their tests, showing professionalism, empathy and understanding at all times and providing explanations as appropriate.
  • Be vigilant at all times with regards to workplace health and safety by maintaining a clean, tidy and safe workplace, monitoring the performance and condition of testing equipment and supplies, and reporting any faults, malfunctions, damage or breakages to equipment or potential hazards to the Clinical Services Manager.
  • Implement and comply with quality processes and mechanisms as required and suggest positive improvements to systems, processes, procedures, workflows and workloads to ensure the delivery of a quality testing service to GenesisCare patients.
  • Work cooperatively with all members of the Clinical Services Team, Administration Team, and build and maintain effective working relationships with all key stakeholders including specialist doctors, and key other internal and external contacts.
  • Maintain a current awareness of advancements in cardiac testing relating to ECG, Holter, Blood Pressure, Event Monitoring and Stress Testing and remain up to date with changes to or improvements in monitoring and analysis software.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Completion of a Primary Degree in Science or related field, or a Degree or Diploma in Applied Science
  • The ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team
  • The ability to carefully plan, organise and prioritise tasks
  • The understanding of customer service principles with an ability to respond sensitively to patient needs
  • The ability to work under pressure and respond to fluctuating workflow and internal / external demands
  • The ability to follow direction; accept feedback; learn new tasks and adapt to change
  • Exceptional communication skills and demonstrable computer skills.
