Communications Officer

Position overview

This is a full-time position, based in Bairnsdale.

The purpose of the role is to contribute to the positive promotion of Council and the successful delivery of Council’s Integrated Communications Strategy.

What you will need to succeed

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Qualifications in journalism, public relations, marketing, communications or a related field or a minimum of three years’ experience in developing and implementing communication strategies and in media related issues management.
  • Exceptional writing skills that can be adapted for media releases, social media, web content, general report writing, and letters recognising the different mediums and styles required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging trends in social media.
  • Experience using a content management system and writing for the web.
  • Experience producing targeted media, including online delivery, and effective liaison with various media organisations.
  • Demonstrated digital project management skills and an ability to work to tight deadlines.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake a current Police Check and Pre-Employment Medical Check. Applicants for this position must be legally entitled to work in Australia.
