The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) commenced on 1 July 2019 and is the lead agency which forms the Stronger Communities Cluster. The new department brought together the former departments of Family and Community Services (FACS) and Justice.

We provide services to better work together to support everyone's right to access justice and other help for families, and promote early intervention and inclusion, with benefits for the whole community.

About The Role

In this role in the Carers Register team, the successful candidate will:

  • Provide significant contribution to the design, implementation and management of key projects that deliver effective business outcomes within agreed timeframes
  • Coordinate the delivery of core business requirements in line with the Office of the Children’s Guardian Carers Register Guidelines
  • Manage and monitor various key projects relating to the compliance of various aspects of legislation designed to keep children safe
  • Manage two busy centralised mailboxes
  • Have an outstanding eye for detail with the ability to enter accurate information into multiple systems
  • Provide accurate and timely written and verbal advice
  • Prepare a range of project-related documents for key stakeholders as required, including status updates, reports and discussion papers
  • Provide an effective interface, liaising and working across DCJ divisions and external stakeholders.

The Carers Register team plays a pivotal role in the authorisation of Carers in NSW and is responsible for providing a high level, quality and timely service. The team’s role is to support DCJ’s ongoing compliance with respect to the authorisation of Carers in NSW and ensures the effective management and recording of data.

This is a temporary role in accordance with the Government Sector Employment Act 2013 for a period of up to 12 months.

A Recruitment Pool may be created to fill similar roles for both ongoing and temporary opportunities if and as they arise.

Essential Requirements
  • A current Working with Children Check
  • Excellent knowledge of and a passion for child protection
  • A positive attitude and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Requirements
  • Experience working with ChildStory is preferred.

The Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012 requires persons engaged in children related work to have Working with Children clearances.

  • Part of the assessment process may include additional online capability testing, skills testing or work samples in accordance with the new Government Sector Employment Act 2013; therefore you may be contacted to participate.
