Shoalhaven City Council is currently seeking a Property Officer to assist Property Unit on a 12-month fixed term position.

About the role

This is a full-time fixed term contract (12 months), Monday to Friday located in Nowra Administration Building.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.

Duties

Reporting directly to the Senior Property Officer, the focus of this position is to:

  • To provide the Property Unit with all aspects of land and property dealings including property management, acquisition and disposal of property and statutory property dealings. This position deals with solicitors, valuers, consultants, suppliers, external contractors, government departments and other Groups of Council on a daily basis to the extent necessary to provide technical advice, negotiate acquisition/disposal of Council’s infrastructure, resolve conflict and respond to enquiries.

Skills & Experience

In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in any of the following: Land Economy; Valuation; Real Estate; Commerce; and / or equivalent experience and related skills.
  • Class C Driver’s License
  • Experience in any or all of the following: statutory property dealings; Road Closures; Crown Land management and tenure; Native Title assessment; acquisition and disposal of properties; leasing and licensing; property management other matters relating to Council owned and managed land.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills to the extent necessary to provide effective customer service, resolve disputes and negotiate for positive outcomes.
