Family and Relationship Counsellor - Nhulunbuy - Part-time

About the Position

You will deliver services that include individual, couple and family counselling, facilitating group work, community awareness, parent education and service promotion activities. You will also provide information and supported referrals to people and families where appropriate.

To be successful in this role:

  • Higher education (tertiary) qualifications in a social science discipline such as Psychology, Social Work or Counselling resulting in eligibility for membership/credentialing with a relevant professional/registration body.
  • Counselling experience in relevant field along with demonstrated interest in and commitment to working with children, adolescents and adults in a child and family-focused approach.
  • Demonstrated respectful approach, effective client engagement skills and willingness to apply responsive, inclusive and flexible work practices.
  • Experience in or ability to organize and effectively facilitate and deliver evidence-based parenting education and family skills training sessions to groups.
  • Maintain registration with professional associations such as the Australian Counselling Association, Australian Association of Social Workers or APHRA.

Please note: It is a requirement that prior to commencing in this role, you must possess a Working with Children (Ochre Card), a National Criminal History Check (within 3 months) and a current Northern Territory manual driver’s licence.
