The Digital Customer Experience team in Technology Digital Innovation encompasses City of Melbourne’s customer-facing technology and customer-enabling technology capabilities. This team provides the technology and the product roadmaps that enable the journey and experience of the end-customer or citizen, providing them with fit for purpose platform for them to easily locate content, and interact or transact with CoM services. This team also owns the core systems and capabilities that run CoM’s main services (such as Finance, Property, and Assets) with a distinct focus on efficiency and connecting the customer-enabling capabilities to customer-facing portals.

As the Senior Application Support you will be the technical lead in the implementation and delivery of key application projects. You will deliver specialist application services and support to end customers. The specialist service and support provided across the application portfolio is in accordance with City of Melbourne service standards and service level agreements, to ensure application issues are resolved promptly and are maintained in a secure operational environment.

You will be responsible for keeping customers informed about work status, and keep management informed when changing customer requirements. You will collaborate closely with the Program Lead and Lead – Application Operations to troubleshoot any platform or application issues, clarify and determine organisational direction and priorities and to ensure all risks and issues are promptly identified and managed. This role will require you to drive and deliver specific project tasks as directed by the Program Lead and manage technical support to applications as needed.

You will bring well-developed organisational skills, with the ability to respond to changing priorities and manage competing deadlines, as well as high level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

  • Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
  • Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computing, or a relevant discipline.
  • Strong technical experience and knowledge in supporting, implementing maintaining critical business systems including setup, management and maintenance of test environments.
  • Demonstrated high level understanding of web applications (.NET, ASP), Microsoft SQL administration, Windows 2008 Active Directory, and Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, Project).
  • Well-developed technical, analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving capabilities, with ability to generate and implement appropriate and creative solutions and resolving application issues.
  • Partner collaboration capabilities, including a solid track-record in establishing and nurturing partnerships in a complex environment.
  • Technically review vendor documentation, proposed solutions and configurations.
  • Develop, maintain and deploy application changes or updates, including managing regular vendor application releases, whilst engaging in continuous improvement of a roadmap of features, as needed.
  • In partnership with the Solution Architect, vendor and other key team members manage the overall solution design of assigned application solution.
