Community Planning and Engagement Officer

Position overview

This is a full time position, based in Bairnsdale.

The purpose of the role is to provide a leading role in the operational support and on-going management of Council’s engagement planning and delivery.

What you will need to succeed

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or substantial relevant workplace experience in community development, community engagement or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a local government setting and/or strong demonstrated understanding of the role and functions of local government.
  • Experience in the preparation and delivery of projects and services with multiple partners and stakeholders.
  • High level knowledge of community engagement and planning processes.
  • Excellent community development, engagement and communication skills including conflict resolution and the ability to gain the co-operation of others.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Experience in using a range of computer and web-based applications to undertake engagement activities with a variety of audiences including the general community.
  • Ability to work within an environment of change and manage community and internal staff relationships.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake a current Police Check and Working with Children Check. Applicants for this position must be legally entitled to work in Australia.
