About The Role

To provide quality medical care under the supervision and guidance of Registrars, Principal House Officers and Consultant Medical Staff in the Department of Medicine and to provide clinical and administrative support for medical services undertaken in the Department of Medicine.

  • Interview, examine and arrange appropriate investigations for patients of their clinical unit.
  • Initiate treatment and action plans under the guidance of more senior medical staff.
  • Accurately and appropriately document findings and actions in clinical notes.
  • Liaise directly with more senior medical staff on clinical units to ensure effective communication and inform of changes in patient condition.
  • Under the consultant's direction, ensure that a patient's general practitioner is promptly and comprehensively advised of the patient's management and condition.
  • Ensure patients have the nature of their illness and consequences of recommended treatment or investigations adequately explained to them.
  • Liaise with other members of the multidisciplinary team involved in patient care.
  • Plan for patient discharge at the time of admission to clinical units.
  • Attend and assist in procedures and outpatients clinics as directed by more senior medical staff.
