The Project

We’ve recently announced our commitment to construct a new peaking power station in the Illawarra region, next to our Tallawarra Power Station, which will provide dispatchable power to another 150,000 homes.

As such, we’re now recruiting for an Electrical Project Engineer.

The Role

In this role, you will be working on the execution of the Tallawarra B Project – a modern hydrogen capable “F” Class Open Cycle Gas Turbine with 315MW of capacity. You will be responsible for providing technical expert engineering advice to assist with the overall execution of Tallawarra B.

You will also be involved with technical engineering activities during the execution of the projects which include preparation of technical specifications and scope of works documents, review of technical design documentation, manage consultant’s EPC phases.

Role Requirements

Due to the unique nature of this specific project, we are seeking applicants with the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • Electrical Engineering qualifications combined with proven EPC and Brownfield project experience
  • A knowledge of the connection of new generating assets to networks is also preferred. With this role there will also be a requirement to interface with the 132kV Transmission connection assets.
  • In in depth knowledge of power station overall design, control and plant operation is required in the Electrical discipline.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with generation assets and their operation particularly open cycle Gas Turbine and or heavy rotating equipment
  • Ability to provide advice and direction regarding contract variation claims and extension of time delays for the main EPC contract
  • Strong Experience in practical implementation of Electrical Engineering including High and Low Voltage systems, Generator Protection, DCS, Transformers, Medium Voltage and low distribution boards, electrical design philosophy in a green and brownfield environment
  • Overall experience in project engineering activities including coordinating responses to TQ’s, providing updates to Owner integrated schedule, monthly reporting, and electrical package coordination.
