JOB DESCRIPTION

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Annual Giving Manager, the Development Assistant is responsible for supporting a vibrant annual fund and community fundraising program. The Development Assistant will participate in the implementation of the Annual Giving Program and Community Fundraising Program in collaboration with the Annual Giving Manager and Community Fundraising Executive.


YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE

  • Co-ordinate and manage all activities to ensure the efficient running of the office, including management of our storeroom and merchandise, ordering collateral, stationery and other donor related materials
  • Contribute to the Development Strategy with the aim to increase donor numbers and funds raised for Chris O’Brien Lifehouse
  • Provide excellent customer service to supporters or potential supporters as the first point of contact via the phone or in person
  • Take an active role in the execution of community and digital fundraising projects, coordinating with project teams, Marketing & Communications and Development Services.
  • Ensure all grateful patient, annual giving and community fundraising communications and solicitations are recorded in constituent database (Salesforce).

  • Demonstrated outstanding client service skills and experience with the ability to communicate clearly, succinctly and respectfully in person and on the phone
  • Highly organised, multitasker who is energised by supporting a successful, high functioning team
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and prioritise workload during busy periods
  • Excellent listening and analysis skills, with both attention to detail and the ability to think holistically in order to solve problems
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate and achieve results with diverse constituencies with potentially competing interests, opinions and expectations
  • Kind, empathetic and compassionate by nature
  • BA/BS degree required


Desirable

  • 1 to 3 years’ fundraising, marketing, customer service or other related experience
  • Experience with medical fundraising would be strongly preferred
