Legal Practice Board

The Legal Practice Board is seeking the services of a senior conciliation officer who is interested in making a difference and contributing to the highest standards of professional practice in the legal profession.

The role will work to promote and enforce the professional standards and honesty of the legal profession; to support an efficient and expeditious system for dealing with complaints; make recommendations on disciplinary proceedings as appropriate; and be part of a productive and motivating work environment.

The Senior Conciliation Officer works to assess and manage concerns raised by members of the public and other legal practitioners. The Senior Conciliation Officer enquires into and investigates complaints of varied complexity, with a view to resolving certain consumer and other matters through conciliation. This role will contribute to the development of the Board's policies and procedures regarding the investigation and conciliation of matters.

The role requires advanced case management and problem solving skills and a drive to work collaboratively within a team-based environment.

We are seeking expressions of interest for a 6 month fixed term, 4 day a week position.

Starting salary of $80,452.00 p.a. plus 9.5% superannuation.

What you will need to succeed

This role will require you to be proactive, adaptable and have a willingness to grow and learn. You will be organised and able to juggle your matters while delivering outstanding customer service.

You will also have:

  • A demonstrated interest in dispute resolution or relevant legal background.
  • The ability to work in a way that upholds the highest levels of impartiality and independence.
  • Highly developed listening skills, with an ability to identify important factors to effectively articulate and summarise the information you have received.
  • Strong analytical skills to assist parties to resolve their concerns and reach agreement.
