UGL's Utilities business provides essential projects and services for critical infrastructure across the water and power sectors. Ranging from wastewater treatment plants to power stations, Utilities provide an end-to-end offering from concept design through to operations and maintenance.

Our offerings include design, construct, commission, operate and maintain across the following capabilities: Power generation, Transmission lines, Substations, Electrical distribution, Water and wastewater treatment plants, Water pipelines.

Utilities safely leads and delivers projects across Australia and executes short and long-term contracts either through self-performance or joint ventures. Our works span structural, civil, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation delivery.
Based in our head office in either Sydney or Brisbane, you will be working with the General Manager Utilities, the Operations Manager will provide, establish, and implement strategic direction for development and growth of the Power Operations across NSW, Vic, & Tas whilst driving project efficiency, profitability and consistency across all projects.
About the role:
  • Planning, managing, controlling assigned projects and people to ensure timely completion and compliance with customer requirements whilst maximizing efficiency in the use of company resources and realizing maximum profitability.
  • Coach and mentor Project Managers, Alliance Managers and Program Managers to drive project efficiency, profitability, consistency across all projects.
  • Provide input into the annual business plan and support Project Managers in developing appropriate business plans for project level
About you
  • You are an experienced Senior Project Manager or Operations Manager managing a portfolio of large multi-disciplined projects in the Engineering and Construction industry. Experience in Utilities business is highly desired.
  • High level of business and commercial acumen with extensive experience in the preparation and management/Interpretation of budgets.
  • An effective leader with extensive experience in coaching, mentoring and leading large project teams across multiple remote and regional locations
  • Demonstrated ability to enact change and implement significant business improvements in areas of HSE, culture, client relationships and profitability
