Primary Purpose

SACFS requires a specialist communications officer to assist the team design and implement marketing and digital communications campaigns. These campaigns will serve to increase community safety with a focus on planning and preparation for the fire danger season, as well as position the SACFS as multi-service agency specialising in more than bushfire response.

This person will be responsible for the creation of digital content across the SACFS’ channels with the aim of increasing awareness of the organisation, its volunteers and services. The successful candidate will be based within the Public Information team and will be a creative and innovative thinker who aims to generate impactful, relevant and meaningful content.

  • Contribute to the development of SACFS corporate and marketing strategies to ensure activities incorporate a strong digital focus and align with the overall organisational vision.
  • Manage the design, development, delivery and evaluation of the annual SACFS summer preparedness awareness campaign and products working with external media-buying and design agencies in the process.
  • Create and edit digital communications products – specifically video, photography, social media assets and other graphic design products – to enhance organisational messaging.
  • Take the lead on marketing projects and digital communications strategies as required and work with key stakeholders throughout the organisation.
  • Produce, film and edit video content in short turnaround times.
  • Prepare design concepts and graphics for digital collateral, hard copy collateral, publications and videos.
  • Ensure communications products meet style, tone and marketing message requirements, as well as reflecting the organisations brand guidelines and industry best-practices.
  • Provide specialist advice and assistance on production and printing of materials.
  • Manage the distribution of the SACFS logo and style guides.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with key personnel across the organisation.
  • Provide high level advice on the management of the SACFS as a brand and development of associated policies.
  • Provide high quality communications consultancy and advisory services to the SACFS.

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in communications or public relations.
