About the role
We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Engineer Equipment Capability to join our Brisbane based Design Engineering team in a permanent full time position. In this hands-on role you will be responsible for providing Equipment Capability Design Engineering support to your appointed Business Line. Reporting to Team Lead Equipment Capability Design you will work within the team to develop and deliver design solutions, using a systems engineering design philosophy, in accordance with the level and scope of Engineering Authority delegated to you.

* Lead development of systems requirements specification for Major Projects in consultation with key stakeholders
* Lead and manage complex activities relating to the design, testing and evaluation of new designs / modifications
* Develop, review, approve and manage Design Engineering tasks, including but not limited to advice, repairs and modifications
* Develop and approve engineering advice and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness in accordance with the level and scope of delegated Engineering Authority
* Actively participate in the improvement of the Engineering Management System
* Lead and mentor less experienced engineers in their area of expertise

About you
To be successful in this role, it is a requirement to be able to drive project outcomes, work autonomously and to tight deadlines and work comfortably in a continuous improvement work environment. The knowledge, skills and experience best suited to this role include:

* Typically 10+ years professional experience working in relevant engineering field as a practicing design engineer in the aviation industry
* Detailed knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, as well as applicable industry standards and best practices
* Solid understanding and application of Airframe Equipment and Integration principles including, physical integration; vibration analysis; classical stress analyses; environmental qualification
* Detailed knowledge of systems engineering processes such as; requirements specifications, requirements traceability and compliance, verification & validation cycles
* Good working knowledge of aerospace manufacturing methods and tooling
* Strong customer-service mindset and stakeholder management skills
* Understanding of maintenance and engineering cost drivers and how to ensure cost effectiveness
* Capacity for self-directed task management in a high workload environment
* Experience in coaching and mentoring to contribute to the continuation of a talent pipeline both internally and externally
* Ability to obtain Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) or equivalent state based engineering registration
