    About the role 

    We are seeking Youth Workers to assist in creating a safe and nurturing environment for a child (Aged 8-10 years) that has high-complex needs, experiencing disabilities and challenging behaviours. Youth Workers work with the child in a Residential Care setting.

    This program operates alongside CatholicCare’s Permanency Support Program. 

    Permanent Part Time positions are available, working 30 hours per week. Youth Workers operate on a 24/7 roster which include morning, afternoon and night shifts, including sleepovers and awake shifts as needed. As a permanent staff member, you will be expected to work weekends and public holidays if your shift falls during these times. 

    This placement will be supported with a ratio of 1:1 (with the potential of another young person transitioning into the placement in the future) and therefore permanent staff can expect to be rostered 3-4 sleepover shifts per fortnight. 

    A Youth Worker has; 

    • An ability to build rapport with all stakeholders; 
    • Empathy and respect for others; 
    • Great problem-solving skills to assist in manage challenging situations; 
    • An understanding of the importance of professional boundaries; 
    • A commitment to safeguarding children and creating a safe work environment for all. 

    Skills & Experience 

    To be considered for this role, you will have the following: 

    • Minimum Certificate IV of Community Services or Certificate III Disabilities; 
    • Experience working in a Youth Worker position and/or experience working within the Disability sector; 
    • Knowledge of trauma, including the impact of abuse and neglect on the development and behaviours of children and young people; 
    • A valid NSW Driver’s licence; as well as 
    • A Current First Aid Certificate or willing to obtain before commencement.
