The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Metalcorp business in our Charters Towers team as a Customer Service Officer. Metalcorp is a leading rural Australian steel distributor, suppling brands for the land through our branches and stockists across Australia.

As a Customer Service Officer, you will regularly interact with our walk-in customers on site at our Charters Towers branch, as well as managing enquiries that come via phone and email. Being the face of BlueScope, you will ensure all of our customers receive exceptional service.

No previous steel, manufacturing or distribution industry experience is required. We will provide you with the support and training you require to enable and facilitate your career change or that next step in your career.

What Will You Do?

Working with our friendly and inclusive team, you will be a key contact for sales and service enquiries received via phone, email and in person. This will see you:

  • managing customer enquiries, preparing quotes, quote follow up and converting these to sales
  • collaborating with internal stakeholders including warehouse and sales departments, to ensure customer expectations are met, such as product specifications and delivery times
  • nurture and grow relationships with customers to uncover new business and sales opportunities
  • continuously look at new ways of improving the customer experience and consistently improving the total value proposition

You will have a strong customer focus, a passion and drive to provide excellent customer service, and a desire to learn and develop your skills & knowledge in a faced paced environment.

In addition, you will have:

  • excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills

  • a willingness to grow, learn and develop yourself within the steel industry
