The opportunity:

R&D at Ceridian is a group of close-knit, cross-functional teams of Developers, QA Analysts, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Test Engineers. We are Agile with a vast appetite for continuous improvement, learning, and training. The Mobile Development team builds new features that address complex functionality in a robust, high performing, accessible, and user-friendly way. We are excited to be part of the new modernization of the Dayforce Platform, built with the latest in cloud, microservices, and Microsoft technologies, introducing automation, increased flexibility and responsiveness, and further capitalizing on AI such as Dayforce Conversational Assistant.

Reporting to the Director Development, we have an opportunity for a Mobile Development Manager to help lead the delivery of our innovative, high-quality mobile application. You want to play a critical role in accelerating our transition to Swift and Kotlin, creating a roadmap for new features and languages that aligns with our company strategy, and pushing forward with integrating Accessibility for thousands of users globally with different abilities.

You are a team-focused technical leader looking for a step up to a Manager role that combines people management, driving projects, and strategic responsibilities. You have experience working across the full product development life cycle and want to continue to be involved at every point. You are looking for long-term fulfillment and impact in the role you take on, the team you lead, and the products and features you build and release. As our new Manager, Mobile Development, you will:

  • Lead and grow a best-in-class team. You will oversee a team of Mobile Developers, building out new features in response to customer demand from millions of users. You will own the HR administration of the team, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, supporting individuals, and fostering a culture of ownership and continuous learning. You will promote a highly collaborative environment and mentor the team providing technical direction, performance feedback, and career development.
  • Empower the team . You will remove roadblocks and prioritize tasks allowing the team to do their best work. You will manage the day-to-day Agile Scrum tasks, guide proofs-of-concept, report on the latest tools, and ensure reliable achievement of project demonstrations, retrospectives, and incremental product deliverables. You will provide insights based on your in-depth understanding of the technology, tools, best practices, and the full mobile product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate and communicate. You will collaborate with leaders across R&D, with customers, and with business partners such as Hosting and Support, on the prioritization of dependencies and roadmap planning, aligning work with business objectives.

What you bring:

  • The experience. You have several years of progressive experience in enterprise software and mobile product development, building and supporting high-volume client-facing products that require high availability and quick issue response. You have proven success taking ownership for leading deliverables of complex projects while acting as a hands-on coach. Ideally, you have an interest in Human Capital Management.
  • The technical skills. Ideally, you have hands-on exposure to both iOS and Android tools and a relational database. A bonus is to have exposure to the .NET framework and front-end web technologies (HTML5, modern JavaScript libraries such as React).
  • The Agile approach. You have expertise following an Agile Scrum methodology and in-depth knowledge of delivery best practices across all facets of the software development life cycle. You have experience planning activities within complex projects, technical direction, prioritization, and capacity planning. A forward thinker, you continually strive to stay at the leading edge and introduce improvements via tools, technologies, and approaches that exceed customer expectations.
  • The team leadership and interpersonal skills. You can inspire and motivate teams with your hands-on technical expertise, coaching skills, and willingness to roll up your sleeves to help solve challenging problems in a fast-paced environment. You can confidently build networks and nurture relationships within teams, peers, clients, and senior leadership. You have outstanding communication, negotiation, and prioritization skills. You can balance needs and requirements, generate consensus, pivot to respond to needs, and work through ambiguity.
