The Opportunity:
Our client is a highly esteemed law firm with 250 staff in their Melbourne office who is known for being both successful and innovative. We are engaged to assist in the urgent recruitment of and ambitious and experienced Legal Assistant to join the WorkCover team of their Melbourne office..... working from home for the first couple of months, with the long-term view of spending 1 or 2 days in the office and the rest working from home thereafter.

The Team:
This busy WorkCover team specialise in providing expert advice and defending clients on all aspects of accident compensation and personal injury law. Given that there is a lot of court documentation involved in this position, it is essential that you hold relevant and recent litigation and/or personal injury experience supporting in a similar capacity of at least 3 years.

Please note that applications from law students and/or graduates are not able to be considered for this role.

Responsibilities:
Your day to day responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Diary management and making travel arrangements;
  • Arranging mediation's, Court conferences, medico-legal examinations and investigations;
  • Preparation of legal documents and correspondence;
  • Preparation and collation of documents for court hearings; including Briefs to Counsel and Court Books;
  • Ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions including the Victorian Magistrates, County and Supreme Courts;
  • Liaising with clients, barristers, solicitors and other stakeholders;
  • Billing; and
  • Other ad hoc administrative duties as required.
