Over the years, the organisation has observed the community and social benefit of swimming pools. Swimming pools play an important role in promoting water safety, fitness, recreation, social skills and community building. Providing well-maintained, well supervised aquatic facilities and swimming programs can improve the overall health of Aboriginal communities, particularly Aboriginal children. Regular swimming over time results in generalised health improvements in children and a reduction of chronic infectious conditions, including respiratory, ear, skin or eye infections.

The Project will manage, operate and facilitate swimming pool services on behalf of Council to proactively build community and strengthen health, fitness, well-being & water safety awareness. This project will see a team of 3 x full time staff and volunteers from across Australia operate these facilities for the local community and develop wrap around health promotion services that help each community achieve their health goals.

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Program Manager, you will be principally responsible for providing volunteer recruitment, on-boarding & training support across the Project. Leading a small, yet capable team, you will be an integral member of the leadership group by playing a key role in developing & executing a national volunteer recruitment strategy, whilst fostering volunteers through a structured & supported on-boarding process.

You will work closely with the Program Manager & Operations Manager, being the first point of contact for all prospective volunteers. You will ensure a smooth transition for all volunteers into the field, by overseeing their on-boarding and liaising directly with the Operations Manager for volunteer deployment across the program.

Essential Skills and Experience

∙ Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and manage a team

∙ Tertiary qualification in volunteer management is highly desirable

∙ Minimum three year's experience in a similar role

∙ Excellent understanding of recruitment principles and processes

∙ Strong stakeholder management capabilities

∙ Excellent time management skills, writing and speaking skills
