We have a rare and exciting opportunity available for a Deputy Director, Corporate Finance. In this role you will play a critical role in the extended leadership team within Financial Services, you will act with a strong sense of purpose and a dynamic vision for Financial Services.

In this role you will…

  • Provide strategic leadership over all aspects of operational, service, project and resource management within the Financial Reporting Team.
  • Conceptualise, develop and lead business improvement initiatives, ensuring that alignment with the broader objectives of the University and Financial Services area.
  • Monitor and measure the critical success factors of the team’s activities and services, ensuring continuous improvement, and appropriate use of key performance indicators.
  • Work closely with the area’s senior leadership team and other key stakeholders in the portfolios/faculties including Directors, Managers and team leaders, to ensure alignment of activities with broader area plans, priorities and policies.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders within Financial Services and across the University in development, delivery and consolidation of the University’s budget and forecasting submissions.
  • Provide oversight and financial analysis of the student course fees for onshore and offshore students including budget and forecasting activities associated with student fees that link with the overarching budget and forecasting cycle working closely with key management within the Office of Strategy & Planning and Student Services.
  • Have oversight and management of the University’s investment portfolio, including high level commentary and analysis for submission of quarterly Investment report and other associated reports to Council.
  • Have oversight of the annual Statutory Financial Statements preparation and associated task and activities.

  • Full membership of an internationally recognised accounting body (e.g. ICAA or CPA) and ongoing maintenance of professional development
  • Significant high level creative, planning and management skills with demonstrated capacity to develop and implement strategic and operational initiatives which support the successful delivery of business outcomes.
  • Outstanding values led leadership skills, including capacity to initiate, lead staff and manage change in a challenging and dynamic environment.
  • High level interpersonal and oral communication skills with the ability to negotiate and liaise effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders using appropriate influencing styles to achieve outcomes.
  • High level written communication skills with the ability to construct clear and concise and persuasive reports.
  • Strong understanding of and experience in best practice financial management.
  • Demonstrated critical analysis skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment in complex decision making.
  • Relevant experience in an aligned commercial organisation or the higher education sector. (Desired)
