Northern Star Resources is the global gold growth company, with three large, high margin production centres exclusively in the tier one locations of Western Australia and Alaska, USA. Production guidance is 1.6 million ounces in the current financial year, before climbing to 2 million ounces by FY27.

Northern Star has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced HR Superintendent to lead and support the Workforce Planning team in our Corporate Office. This opportunity is offered on a 14 month fixed term contract.


Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee the provision of international mobility between domestic and international residents and operations.
  • Support and guide the team on domestic visa management for engagement with internationally based candidates.
  • Overseeing the maintenance of talent pools across the broader business to ensure succession planning and key talent pathways including management of international candidates.
  • Identify and source diverse and inclusive opportunities for external Stakeholders to join through internal pathways.
  • Reporting on People and Culture matters to the Senior and Executive Management teams, inclusive of any Government statutory reporting (i.e. WGEA, ABS).
  • Business partnering with Department Heads and Executives to understand broader business recruitment needs, including talent management strategies, resourcing needs analysis and industry trends.
  • Identify, develop and implement “fit for purpose” recruitment strategies, solutions, policies and projects to support workforce planning and manning requirements.
  • Supporting and overseeing the coordination of the Graduate, Vacation Student, Apprentice, and Trainee programs.
  • Lead and develop the Workforce Planning Team.
  • Work cohesively with the broader People and Culture team to ensure overall alignment of strategy and support for projects.


Required skills and experience:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Human Resource Management, all related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a HR Advisor or Generalist position at a Senior level
  • Experience using SAP SucessFactors
  • Experience in the mining industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound planning and organisational abilities
  • High level of interpersonal skills across all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of key business success drivers, including the ability to plan and anticipate likely scenarios
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
