Risk Management is responsible for developing and deploying the risk frameworks and strategies to allow the Group to take conscious exposures to credit, market, operational, compliance and insurance risks within a Board-approved appetite.

Within Risk Management there are specialist teams responsible for credit, market, operational, compliance and insurance risks, as well as business unit facing teams. These areas collaborate with each other and specific areas within the Group to implement the Risk Management frameworks and strategy.

Your Team

The Enterprise Risk (ER) BU forms part of the Group Risk Management function. ER provides support to the Group Chief Risk Officer (GCRO), assisting in the delivering against the Group Risk Strategic Plan in the most effective way for the organisation.

The position of Senior Manager Portfolio Performance, will sit within the Risk Strategic Portfolio (RSP) team, forming part of the broader ER business unit.

Your Impact and Contributions

The role of Senior Manager Portfolio Performance will play a critical role in the efficient and effective running of the Risk Strategic Project Portfolio, its financial health, and ability to accurately report portfolio performance to the Risk Management Leadership Team (RMLT).

You will report to the Executive Manager Risk Project Management Office, Enterprise Risk.

Your Responsibilities will include

  • Decision support/performance reporting – cutting data for required audiences e.g. Outcome estimates vs. actuals, Quarterly Performance Reports

  • Assistance with development of new ways of working in the risk portfolio from a decision support and PMO perspective

  • RMLT pack preparation reporting on portfolio performance e.g. what we planned to do, what we did do, what we didn’t do, and why? Including working with Group Finance and ES Strategic Investments on reporting to ensuring we are aligned and operating within the Group Delivery Framework (GDF)

  • Business case support, including ownership of PACC model for the risk portfolio, working hand in hand with Finance

  • Ownership of ongoing stage gating processes (with our reps in finance/FSID/EPMO etc.) including milestone, dependency and delivery management

  • Ownership of the monthly Financial Governance Forum by partnering with ES Strategic Investments to provide E2E transparency on Portfolio financials from PopEx to OpEx

  • Support for ongoing financial processes e.g. IPP, Group Investment Prioritisation, Capitalisation and Amortisation, etc.

  • Assist in the co-ordination of finance related processes, ensuring all OpEx estimated are adequately built into future year’s budgets for annual cycle

  • Vision and values. Role model the Group’s vision and values and hold others accountable for doing the same

  • Ensure Strategic Project spend is controlled, well forecasted and fully understood; and management financial directives and group policies are adhered to

  • Stakeholder management. Develop relationship with Group Finance, RM PMO and key project community stakeholders

  • Risk management. Ensure appropriate risk management and financial control practices are in place and adhered to

Your skills and Experience

  • Strong commercial finance skills

  • A good understanding of financial control frameworks

  • Understanding of project finance

  • Ability to engage and influence executive stakeholders

  • Sound verbal and presentation skills and a willingness to further develop these skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Able to operate at both a detailed level and see the bigger picture

  • Demonstrated leadership(not necessarily of a dedicated team)

  • Experience in building and maintaining strong relationships at all levels in the organization

  • Self-driven with a desire to drive business and/or process

  • Risk Mindset –All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks.

  • Academic and appropriate professional qualifications in business or finance, or significant related experience.
