The VFA is a statutory authority established to facilitate the effective management of Victoria’s fisheries resources in a coordinated and strategic way that ensures their ongoing sustainability. The VFA functions to ensure that the Government, the recreational and commercial fishing sectors, and the Victorian community can share in and obtain the benefits from sustainable fisheries management. The VFA has around 170 employees located in the Melbourne CBD, metropolitan Melbourne and across regional Victoria.

Program Officer (Better Boating Victoria)

  • Annual Salary Range: VPS4 $87,640 - $99,438 + Superannuation
  • Tenure: Fixed Term, 12 months
  • Employment Type: Full Time
  • Usual Work Location: Melbourne CBD (flexibility may be available)

About the Team 

Better Boating Victoria is responsible for supporting the delivery of Victoria's boating reforms. Responsibilities include progressing the development and delivery of a boating infrastructure program. There is a need to recruit into the role of a Program Officer to assist with project delivery of boating programs for a 12 month period. This role is critical to the success of Better Boating Victoria's ability to deliver.

About the Opportunity 

The Program Officer is responsible for supporting the delivery of a series of program and funding initiatives to deliver the Victorian Government's boating reform agenda. The position will be responsible for the assisting in the administration and delivery of Better Boating Victoria's funding programs, implementation of strategic projects to make boating better and delivery of program initiatives identified in the Victorian Recreational Boating Strategy. The position reports to the Senior Project and Program Adviser, Better Boating Victoria.

About You

  • Program Delivery: Experience in monitoring, reporting and delivering on programs with tight deadlines and within budgets, including demonstrated understanding of compliance, integrity and risk management.
  • Organisation skills: Excellent time management, prioritisation and organisational skills and an ability to meet tight deadline
  • Communication Skills: Experience preparing concise reports, presentations, briefs and/or correspondence in a Government setting. Identify, coordinate and produce reporting and written communication which supports effective decision-making by Senior Executives and Government.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Demonstrated ability to liaise in a professional manner with a diverse stakeholder group including senior management, external and internal stakeholders
  • Planning: Experience in the preparation of project plans, agendas, minutes, reports, briefs, meeting documentation and presentation
  • Problem Solving: Has good judgement and providing practical problem-solving advice in a high-pressure, complex environment.
