JOB DESCRIPTION

  • $1,800 per day worked
  • GP Clinics Monday to Friday with a shared on-call at the Hospital ED
  • Flights, accommodation and hire car provided
The opportunity

This locum role is a rewarding mix of private practice in the busy and friendly Ochre Health clinic and supporting the VMO contract at the local hospital. Typically you will conduct shared morning ward rounds at the hospital (12 acute beds) and spend the bulk of your day back at the practice in GP consults. On-call for Emergencies is on a shared roster so you are not on-call every day.

The location

Located on the North-West coast of Tasmania, Smithton is surrounded by natural wonders of the world. From quirky waterfalls, rocky capes, sink holes and more! The town is the gateway to the rugged far North West and is the last stop before the roaring Arthur River and Tarkine Wilderness. Experience the Tarkine drive, offering an opportunity to get back in touch with nature and adventure through multiple forest reserves on an accessible road which includes stopping by the Edge of the World nature reserve, which is the longest uninterrupted expanse of ocean on Earth stretching from Tasmania all the way to Argentina.

Essential criteria

You must be a vocationally registered GP (FRACGP or FACRRM) with recent rural emergency experience and a current ALS2 (or equivalent) certificate.
