About The Role


We are looking for customer focused Food Services Assistant to work in our kitchen located in Monash Children's Hospital & MMC Clayton Food Services . Working a 6 to 8 hours morning shift with 62 total hours per fortnight. You will be committed to work in a team environment dedicated to delivering outstanding service and have an individual approach to patient needs and willing to work within the values of Monash Health. ADHOC additional hours maybe offered as it arise.


About You Your ability to prioritize and self-manage tasks, interact and communicate well with the nursing team and be proactive and attentive to food service duties will be pivotal to your success in this role. Previous experience in a hospital food services will be required to be considered for this role.


In this role you will be require to undertake some administration duties such as food ordering, audits and leadership in the running of this small intimate kitchen. The following criteria is mandatory to meet the requirements of this position.



  • Understanding of diet codes and relevant and appropriate foods.

  • Understanding of food allergies and intolerances, modified textures and fluids.

  • Understanding of cleaning within in food services from a Food Safety compliance

  • Customer Service focus 

  • Ability to prioritize tasks 

  • Must hold a valid Employee Working with Children Check

  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or Food Safety Level 1


We will need you to have:



  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate

  • A competent level of verbal & written communication skills

  • Ability to work with a cohesive team or individually to complete daily tasks

  • Working with Children Check

  • Basic to intermediate computer skills

  • Commitment to working a morning shift and some afternoon shift including weekends

  • Ability to undertake physical work including lifting, carrying and manual handling

  • A high standard of demonstrated experience in customer service from a health care or hospitality environment (desirable)

  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence (desirable)
