An exciting opportunity is available to expand and enhance your social work skills working at South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault and Family Violence (SECASA) as Counsellor/Advocate (Grade 2).



  • Social Worker Grade 2, Permanent

  • East Bentleigh based

  • 0.8 EFT (32 hours)

The successful candidates will have a strong understanding of the personal and political issues surrounding sexual assault, family violence and complex interpersonal trauma. The position is responsible for delivering high-quality counselling and advocacy to victim survivors of sexual assault and family violence and their support people, using frameworks of intersectionality, gender equality and a human rights based approach.

About SECASA


The South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault and Family Violence (SECASA) provides sexual assault and family violence therapeutic support services and advocacy across nine locations within south eastern metropolitan region of Melbourne. SECASA delivers a wide range of services including individual and group counselling, advocacy, crisis support, and community education prioritising the empowerment of victim survivors.


The Role:



  • Provide therapeutic interventions for children, young people and adults who have experienced sexual assault and/or family violence, including individual counselling, advocacy, and group work

  • Provide crisis support for people who have recently experienced sexual assault

  • Conduct risk assessments, and work collaboratively with clients and key agencies to enhance safety and wellbeing

  • Contribute to the delivery of community and professional education

  • Do you have an understanding of the personal and political dynamics of sexual assault and family violence?
