About The Role

  • Drive Process Safety across AGL’s extensive asset operations portfolio

Reporting to the Head of Asset Engineering and Standards, The Principal Process Safety is responsible for the delivery of AGL’s Process Safety Management (PSM) program, standards and practices across Integrated Energy Operations, in conjunction with the Lead Principal Chemistry and Process

You will ensure the integrity of operating systems by applying inherently safer design principles, engineering and disciplined operating practices; with a view to ensuring the prevention and mitigation of major incidents that have the potential for a loss of control of a hazardous material or energy.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Facilitate and drive the implementation of a Process Safety Management Program across AGL’s Integrated Energy operations and the broader organisation
  • Develop and operationalise Process Safety policies, standards and systems across AGL’s Integrated Energy operations
  • Manage the build and integration of Process Safety performance indicators into the Compliance Dashboard. Provide key Process Safety requirements as inputs into the AGL Asset Management System
  • Audit business unit critical controls on key process safety risks and develop improvement plans for gaps where they are identified
  • Work with key site stakeholders to implement and develop the Integrated Energy Process Safety program
  • Project manage the Integrated Energy Process Safety program. Build the project metrics and governance mechanisms to ensure compliance
  • Engage with Senior Management, Asset Owners, Safety and Risk champions within Business Units to manage the Integrated Energy Process Safety Management program implementation. Ensure that acceptable standards and controls are in place and that the Process Safety risks are understood, communicated and managed appropriately
  • Report program implementation performance, resource utilisation and costs to the PSM Steering Committee on monthly and ad hoc requirements
  • Ensure that all Health, Safety and Environment Systems and goals are introduced and adhered to while meeting AGL’s policies and standards for HSE Management
About You What you’ll bring to the table:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Chemical / Process Engineering (or related discipline or equivalent experience), formal Project Management qualification advantageous
  • Demonstrable previous experience and competency in delivering improved process safety outcomes in complex, high-risk industrial operating environments
  • Excellent Project Management technical skills including scheduling, resource planning and reporting
  • Excellent communications and influencing skills to lead change management
  • Confident at liaising with people from all levels of business including the Executive Leadership Team
  • Ability to work independently and to manage competing priorities and multiple projects / responsibilities
