Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) leads emergency management in Victoria by working with government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies. EMV is a statutory entity and is part of the Department of Justice & Community Safety (the Department). The Department, through the Secretary, employs EMV staff and provides corporate functions to EMV. EMV is led jointly by the Chief Executive (CE) and the Emergency Management Commissioner (EMC).

Officer, State Control Centre

EMV has an excellent opportunity for an experienced and passionate support officer to join our Operational and Coordination business unit in an emergency management support focused role.

The key responsibilities for this role will include:

  • Ensure the effective communication flows to internal and external stakeholders and agencies. This involves extensive use of phone, email, internet and agency applications as appropriate
  • Provide secretariat support through minute taking of state level operational meetings
  • Provide efficient and effective SCC administrative support to operational functions and agencies within the SCC, in accordance with requirements and delivery standards

As the role works on a rostered basis, the incumbent will be required to work outside normal business hours and on weekends. Travel to regional locations may be required.

This is a demanding position and will require a person with the drive, commitment and resilience to perform effectively in a challenging environment.

To succeed in this role we are looking for:

  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written;
  • Proven record of initiative, flexibility and self-management;
  • Demonstrated understanding of Victoria's emergency management arrangements.
